BACKGROUND
The Melbourne Star is an observation wheel previously located at Waterfront City Precinct at docklands in Melbourne, Australia.
The 110 meter diameter wheel stands around 120 m height and is similar concept to the London Eye, which is 135 m high. The structure comprises of 1250 tonnes of steel and 3.7 kilometres of LED lighting and equipped with 21 air-conditioned glass enclosed capsules. It can accommodate up to 20 passengers per cabin.
The 21 pods were manufactured by Sanoyas Rides Corporation (SRC formally known as SHM) in Osaka, Japan. The supporting steel columns were manufactured in Tasmania and the wheel structure was manufactured in the Dandenongs.
